Morocco

The school and youth center founded by the Association Vivante is situated in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains on 1800m altitude and far away from everything.
In the heart of the traditional Berber valley called “Ait Bouguemez” the école vivante is a school and youth centre, a place of innovation and growth. 50 children between 6 and 12 years are living here. The climate is soil and harsh in an high altitude – the kids need warm jackets, bags or backpacks for their schoolstuff.

Sebastian Bestle from Vienna will visit these children on his way through the High Atlas. He will run the TransAtlas Marathon. This is a trail race of about 280 km in 6 stages of 30 to 60 km per day (with about 12,000 +/- meters). The race’s 177 miles wind through Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and include almost 50,000 feet of elevation change. The allure of the race isn’t just its stunning location. It’s the fact that the Trans Atlas Marathon exists solely because of Moroccan ultrarunner Mohamad Ahansal’s desire to share the local population’s Berber culture with other runners. But Sebastian knows Morokko very well, with his own agency, you can discover Morocco more laid back.
